Hi, I'm Shannon Leigh.
If you've arrived at this page, then undoubtedly,
you and I have something in common; a passion for glass.
Mine began with a mason jar of antique marbles found at an antique store.
I pursued a marble collection based on that find, and that search lead me
to study thier construction. When I found that beads were made
in the same fashion as marbles, the doors blew off the barn!
I now find myself pouring over glass recipes, techniques, and tools,
manipulating, and creating for hours!
All the while trying to perfect all of the above.
Did I say for hours?
I might as well face it, I'm addicted glass.
That's the gist, here's the rest...
Your beads are coming to you from South Central Tennessee,
high up on a ridge, surrounded by views of thousands of
undeveloped acres.
My studio is equiped with an oxy-propane torch, an oxygen concentrator,
a digtally controlled kiln, rods and rods of glass color, frits, enamels,
tools galore, and an innovative ventilation system!
Keeping me company are Riddle, Jet, and Mattie, my studio mascot dogs.
My experience lampworking now spans over four years, but I'd like you
to also know that my career has always been in fine art, primarily paintings.
Over the past 10 years I am delighted to say that my paintings
adorn some of Nashville's finest homes and art collections:
singer Phil Vasser, Rascal Flatts member Jay De Marcus
and wife Allison, NFL star Kevin Carter and wife Shima,
and many other notables.
And in the 10 years prior to Nashville, from my Seattle studio,
my artworks were also featured in such catalogs as Horchow,
Neiman Marcus, Roche Bobois, and Speigel.
This is the foundation, the years of creative experience,
from which I draw to create my beads.
I hope that you find inspiration in my beads!
Cheers!
